Playing with Puzzles = Learning for the Future

Puzzles are fun educational toys that challenge young minds, teaching and preparing children some very important life skills. Plus they come in all shapes and sizes so even very small children can enjoy them!

We’ve listed some of the important development benefits of puzzles below to show how playing with puzzles can help children learn for the future…

Cognitive Skills

Puzzles increase visual spacial awareness and develop a deeper understanding of themes and topics such as pets or transport.

Problem Solving

Completing a puzzle, even the most simplest, sets a single goal to achieve.  Toddlers and children must think and develop strategies on how to achieve this goal.  This involves problem solving, reasoning skills and developing solutions.

Fine Motor Skills Development

Puzzles are a fun way for children to develop and refine their fine motor skills – for more information about Fine Motor Skills, please see our Blog posted 17th June 2017.

Social

Puzzles can enhance and promote cooperative play.  As children work together to complete a puzzle, they will discuss where each piece should go and why, taking turns and sharing each other’s frustrations and finally sharing the joy of finishing the puzzle.

Self Esteem

The accomplishment of achieving a goal brings so much satisfaction to a child. Solving a puzzle really provides a sense of achievement and pride within the child, boosting self-confidence and self-esteem.
